UConn Is the Engine of Connecticut.

The University contributes $6.9 billion to Connecticut’s economy, and UConn itself hosts 32,000 jobs. Our extension program has a presence in all eight counties and each of the state’s 169 towns. Our athletics teams generate more than $150 million in statewide economic output. UConn Health offers comprehensive care and half of all dentists in the state have UConn degrees. And 70 percent of UConn graduates remain in the state.

UConn Conducts Research With Real Impact.

We are deservedly proud of our status as a Research I university, with more than 80 research centers and institutes and more than 100 research facilities. Highlights include the Korey Stringer Institute, the UConn Tech Park, Next Gen CT, the Eversource Energy Center partnership, and the $864 million Bioscience CT initiative. The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team came to us for their conditioning, we partnered with NASA on their Big Ideas Competition, and we are internationally recognized leaders in brain-related research.

UConn Delights in Unexpected Collaborations.

Since 2010, UConn’s interdisciplinary collaborations have grown tremendously – which makes sense when you realize our faculty, staff, and students are the best at what they do. Partnerships include Engineering for Human Rights; the Krenicki Arts and Engineering Institute; the first-of-its-kind Nursing and Engineering Innovation Institute; Engineers Without Borders; a puppetry collaboration to support youth mental health efforts; and the i-Brewery Partnership between UConn’s College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources, College of Engineering, and School of Business.

UConn Students Are Huskies Forever.

Choosing UConn is one of the most significant decisions our students can make early in their lives, the rightness of which we strive to confirm for the rest of their lives. We are consistently ranked among the top public universities in the nation and graduate our students in 4.1 years on average. Of our 277,000 alumni worldwide, more than half live in Connecticut – which, when paired with our 90 percent post-graduation placement rate, is further evidence that UConn is the engine of Connecticut.
